Hall of Fame Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis’ son has been indicted on a charge of third-degree criminal sexual conduct by a South Carolina grand jury.
Ray Anthony Lewis III, 20, was indicted on Aug. 11 and, according to the Bleacher Report, “is accused of sexually assaulting an 18-year-old woman while knowing she was under the influence” and “when the defendant knew or had reason to know that the victim was mentally defective, mentally incapacitated or physically helpless.”
The sexual assault allegedly took place on Jan. 23, 2016, and after an investigation, police issued an arrest warrant for Lewis III, who was later released on $10,000 bond after he turned himself into the police.
Lewis III tried living under his father’s legendary career in Baltimore and with the University of Miami, but the heat proved too intense. He transferred from the Miami Hurricanes, where his father’s fame began to blossom, and played cornerback at Coastal Carolina. It is here that the alleged rape too place, and the team has listed Lewis III as being on “indefinite suspension,”
Ray Lewis Jr. also faced serious charges during his playing days. In between becoming one of the greatest middle linebackers of all time, going to 13 Pro Bowls and winning a Super Bowl MVP – all for the Ravens – he was also famously caught up on murder charges in 2000. That’s when a fracas ensued between his crew and another group of men in the upscale Buckhead section of Atlanta, leaving two men dead of stab wounds. Lewis was exonerated of all charges and eventually rehabilitated his image and career to land in the Hall of Fame.
