Key witnesses against Sean “Diddy” Combs, including his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, are urging a federal judge to hand down a lengthy prison sentence, citing fear for their safety, per the Associated Press.
On Friday (October 3), Diddy is set to be sentenced after being convicted of two Mann Act violations related to interstate prostitution. U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian denied Diddy’s request on Tuesday (September 30) to overturn his conviction.
Federal prosecutors are seeking at least 11 years and 3 months in prison. In a court filing on Tuesday, prosecutors submitted emotional letters from Cassie, her parents, and several former employees who described Combs as dangerous, vindictive, and manipulative.
“If there is one thing I have learned from this experience, it is that victims and survivors will never be safe,” Cassie wrote. “I am so scared that if he walks free, his first actions will be swift retribution.”
Cassie, who testified during Diddy’s trial, said the music mogul began abusing her when she was 19 years old, using violence, threats, and control over her career to trap her in over a decade of abuse. She said she now requires daily psychological care and has relocated her family out of New York due to fear of retaliation.
A former personal assistant, known as “Mia,” also submitted a letter, calling Diddy, who she alleges raped her in 2010, an “ongoing danger.”
Former employee Capricorn Clark said Diddy forced her at gunpoint to help break into rapper Kid Cudi’s home in 2011.
“Serving more time will save Puff’s life, as time away from his money, drugs, and power is the only punishment he will recognize,” Clark wrote.
Jourdan-Cha’Taun Atkinson, Diddy’s personal chef from 2007–2010, described him as “dangerous and spiteful.” The chef said she was subpoenaed by federal agents in March 2024 and was terrified when Diddy allegedly found out within two weeks, “offering to pay for my legal fees.”
Diddy’s legal team maintains he is no longer the man described in court. His attorneys have asked for no more than 14 months in prison, citing his “transformation” behind bars.
However, prosecutors argue Combs remains a powerful, wealthy man who poses a threat to those who spoke out.
“The defendant’s wealth, power, and fame should not place him above the law,” Mia wrote.
