Detroit – Professional Medical Center (PMC) in partnership with AIDS Partnership of Michigan, Institute for Population Health and Gilead Sciences will host the 2nd annual Health Awareness Day on Thursday, May 21 from 10 am – 3 pm at PMC’s medical practice located on Mt. Elliott on Detroit’s east side. The annual health event aims to serve the community by offering preventative care testing at no cost to any residents living in Wayne and Oakland County. Medical professionals will be onsite administering HIV and Syphilis testing, blood pressure screenings, blood sugar and cholesterol checks, massages, assistance with health care enrollment and dental screenings.
Regular check-ups are essential for a healthy lifestyle. Our intention is to foster a culture of healthier living in our community and it’s an opportunity to educate the public on the various diseases that tend to be prevalent in our community,” said chief executive officer of PMC, Robin Cole.
Professional Medical Center sought out partners to help better serve the community in providing counsel to residents on better living choices and treat participants in need of medical care. AIDS Partnership of Michigan provides testing, counseling, and information on housing, medication and other social issues dealing with HIV and AIDS in southeastern Michigan. Institute for Population Health provides STD, TB, HIV testing, vision and hearing screenings, family planning resources and Medicaid insurance enrollment. Gilead Sciences is the leading pharmaceutical company that developed the single tablet regimen for HIV/AIDS patients.
Professional Medical Centers Annual Health Awareness Day will be held at 3956 Mt. Elliott, Detroit, MI 48207. There will be food and giveaways for attendees. The event is open to the public.
