President-elect Joe Biden is set to speak in defense of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) on Tuesday while the Supreme Court debates its future.
The former Vice President has consistently made his support of the ACA known to the public. Stating that he knew the act’s implementation was a “big deal” during the Obama Administration.
Now, it’s fate is in the hands of a majority conservative Supreme Court.
The mandate states all Americans must be covered by insurance or be charged a fee. With the addition of a new law, President Trump threw out the mandate and more conservative states the opportunity to lower the penalty fee. As a result, many of these states have deemed the laws unconstitutional.
The Supreme Court is set to announce a ruling on the case this upcoming summer.
Biden is expected to speak with the public about the Affordable Care Act at 2 p.m. ET.
