Powering the Community with Neighborhood Energy Efficiency Day (NEED)

DTE is committed to helping customers maximize their home’s energy efficiency and help save on their energy bills through program measures and cost-saving tips. That’s why their team is continuing its long-standing partnership with The Heat and Warmth Fund (THAW) to assist customers in need heading into the winter season to ensure customers have the home equipment and safety upgrades, and financial support before temperatures drop.

Earlier this month, the DTE Energy Efficiency Assistance (EEA) team and THAW hosted NEED Day in Detroit’s Yorkshire Woods neighborhood, providing nearly 200 energy efficiency kits, scheduled home energy assessments and other resources for eligible customers. The energy efficiency kits included LED bulbs, advanced power strips, power switches, night lights, weather stripping, screwdriver sets and power outlet safety plugs.

Installing these measures help reduce wasted standby power and could save up to $200 annually on energy bills. Energy auditors were also onsite conducting home assessments to identify home energy-saving opportunities and following up with customers to install free energy upgrades such as programmable thermostats, water heaters, furnace tune-ups and replacements, insulation and other energy-efficient measures.

DTE offers several programs and initiatives available to help you reduce energy use and save more. For more no cost and low-cost tips, visit dteenergy.com/saveenergy.
