PowerCulture: Woman of color discuss entrepreneurship

IMG_2214In an effort to provide women of color with a forum to collaborate, network and grow entrepreneurial wealth, while cultivating a holistic life balance, the Michigan Black Chamber of Commerce (MBCC) has partnered with Comerica Bank’s Wealth Management Division, and enlisted the expertise of the Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Inc., the Asian Pacific American Chamber of Commerce, Inc., and the Native American Business Alliance, to celebrate and encourage women of color entrepreneurship and development through an evening of networking and peer discussion, Thursday, September 24, 2015.
This invite-only event will commence with a networking reception, followed by an engaging panel discussion moderated by National Manager of Diversity Initiatives at Comerica Bank, Caroline Chambers, and end with interactive breakout sessions for deeper conversation and learning opportunities.
Our esteemed panelists include: Founder/CEO – VMS 365, Inc., Rumia Ambrose-Burbank; Founder/CEO, Dunamis Clean Energy Partners, LLC Natalie King; Executive Director of the Asian Pacific American Chamber of Commerce, Inc., Van Nguyen; Christine Rice, President, Vision IT; Jeanette Abraham – Owner/CEO, JMA Logistics, LLC.
According to a national report by the Center for Women’s Business Research, Hispanic and African American women are the fastest growing entrepreneurial segments in the country growing at rates of 133.3% and 191.4% respectively.
“We know for a fact, every year the number of women-own businesses increases. And as leaders of the Chamber it is our responsibility to not only encourage and uplift entrepreneurs, but educate them on any new resources or opportunities available to help them succeed,” said Executive VP of the MBCC, Ivy Simmons. “And when you get the right people in the room for an event like this, we will do just that.”
Focusing on the Women of Color’s Seven Pillars of Success, Pipeline Development for Women of Color, Entrepreneur Training, Resource Deployment, Emerging Wealth Creation, Work-Life Balance, Mentorship, and Networking, this must-attend event will be highly beneficial for both emerging and accomplished business women.
The Michigan Black Chamber of Commerce (MBCC) is Michigan’s first statewide Black chamber of commerce. With access to more than 79,000 black-owned businesses in Michigan, the MBCC has become one of the largest and most influential chambers of commerce in the country.
