Detroiters dreaming of homeownership will have a powerful resource at their fingertips this weekend when PNC Bank and Freddie Mac bring their Affordable Housing Roadshow to Fellowship Chapel on Saturday, October 18, 2025.
The free community event, taking place at 7707 W. Outer Drive from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (doors open at 10:30 a.m.), has already proven to be an inspiring and action-driven gathering at stops in different cities around the country, and it’s designed to help residents take tangible steps toward building wealth through homeownership.
Far more than a traditional housing fair, the Roadshow blends education, empowerment, and community connection. Attendees will be able to receive a soft credit pull and even pre-approval on the spot, a unique opportunity to move from intention to action in real time.

With an expected attendance of 200 to 300 people, the event will offer a mix of expert-led discussions, local resources, and networking in an energetic, welcoming atmosphere that includes music, food, and a true sense of community.
The Detroit stop of the Roadshow features an impressive lineup of speakers and panelists who bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in affordable housing, lending, and community development.
Speakers include:
- Anthony Cartwright, Interim Director of the Wayne County Economic Development Department;
- Melia Howard, Deputy Mayor of the City of Detroit;
- Wil Hendrix-Griffin, Senior Vice President and Head of Affordable Lending for PNC Bank;
- Roderick Hirsch, Vice President of Affordable Lending for PNC Bank;
- Sandra Heidinger, Senior Affordable Lending Manager for Freddie Mac;
- Venus Joy Brown, Chapter President of the Southfield Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.;
- Amber Lewis, Third Vice President of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers.
The event will be moderated by Monique Winston, President of MWINS Consulting, with other sponsors including Starlite Properties and Allstate Insurance Agent Cameron Young.
Throughout the day, attendees will learn about Freddie Mac’s affordable housing solutions, city and county programs, down payment assistance and grants, and financing options for all income levels. They’ll also discover resources designed to support both new and existing homeowners, with experts available to answer questions and provide guidance tailored to Detroit’s housing landscape. For many, it’s an opportunity not just to gather information, but to connect directly with professionals and organizations committed to helping families achieve stability and build generational wealth.
PNC Bank and Freddie Mac’s Affordable Housing Roadshow has already made a strong impact in cities across the country, including Houston, where community members described the experience as eye-opening and life changing. Each stop has reinforced the same truth: when access, information, and opportunity come together, families and neighborhoods grow stronger. Now, Detroit residents will have the chance to experience that momentum firsthand.
The Roadshow represents a broader mission to close the homeownership gap and ensure that more people have the tools to create a secure financial future. In a city where revitalization and resilience go hand in hand, this initiative arrives at a meaningful time, aligning with Detroit’s ongoing efforts to make homeownership accessible and sustainable for all.
