Terri Weems was recently promoted to CFO at Detroit Employment Solutions Corp (DESC). As CFO, which is a newly created position at DESC, Weems will be responsible for overseeing project management and all fiscal operations. In her new role, Weems, who is a certified public accountant, will focus on DESC finance and internal operations. According to the DESC, Weems also will help lead DESC’s metric-driven accountability and data-driven decision-making approach, including providing the financial and operational information necessary to develop actionable recommendations. Weems also will lead DESCs process optimization and continuous improvement efforts.
John Rhea, a native Detroiter, was recently named President of the Corporate Finance and Capital Markets division at Siebert Cisneros Shank & Co., LLC (SCSCO). The company is one of the nation’s most prominent minority-and woman-owned investment banks. Rhea will lead the corporate banking, sales and trading teams and continue the expansion of SCSCO’s corporate finance presence. Rhea, 51, will be based out of Siebert Shank’s New York headquarters, and will spend some time in Detroit, where Siebert Shank’s CEO, Suzanne Shank, is based. Rhea also will continue with his investments in the Detroit area through RHEAL Capital Management LLC, the multi-family and mixed-use real estate investment management company he founded.
Lysa Davis, CEO of Compliance and Community Consultants has been elected Chair of the Michigan Community Resources (MCR) Board of Directors. MCR is dedicated to supporting and empowering nonprofit community organizations in Michigan that serve low-income individuals and communities. In her new role, Davis will be responsible for leading the vision and mission of the organization, alongside the organization’s executive officers and board of directors. According to Shamyle Dobbs, Michigan Community Resources CEO, the Board unanimously supported Davis thanks to her strong leadership, passion and dedication to the organization’s mission.
