Neighborhood Service Organization (NSO) is gearing up for the 13th annual Handlebars for the Homeless bike tour on Sunday, August 25, 2024. This impactful fundraiser offers cyclists of all skill levels the opportunity to pedal through Detroit on 15-mile and 6-mile routes, all supporting individuals experiencing homelessness. The ride begins at the NSO Bell Building, promising a meaningful community, exercise, and advocacy day.
Linda Little, the President and CEO of NSO, expressed her excitement about the occasion and delight in reintroducing ‘Handlebars for the Homeless’ for the thirteenth consecutive year.
“This event not only raises crucial funds for our organization but also serves as a powerful platform to bring awareness around homelessness in our community. It allows us to create access to much-needed resources and high-quality wraparound services for vulnerable populations,” Little said.
David Rudolph, founder of ‘Handlebars for the Homeless’ and cyclist, emphasized the ongoing focus on community engagement and assistance for those experiencing homelessness during this event.
“We encourage participants to enjoy the scenic route, contribute to the cause, and make a lasting impact in the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness,” Rudolph said.
Participants will receive a T-shirt, spoke card, raffle entry, and refreshments. Experienced cyclists and mechanics will support the ride. For those unable to attend in person, a virtual option is available from August 16-25.
Melinda Mernovage, Director of Corporate Communications at Mercedes-Benz Financial Services, expressed pride in collaborating with NSO for the 13th Annual Handlebars for the Homeless event. Mercedes-Benz Financial Services has backed NSO’s mission for over 12 years.
“By participating in this year’s bike tour, we aim to raise awareness and support for individuals experiencing homelessness. This event is a perfect blend of community engagement and impactful action,” Mernovage said.
VIP Registration for this year’s event is now available for $150. It includes exclusive H4H merchandise, a long-sleeve shirt, a cycling hat, and a coffee mug. Individual registration will remain open until August 24, 2024. All proceeds benefit NSO’s homelessness programs.
