Parker’s Alley to Host Family-Friendly Halloween Celebration, Boo Bash, in Detroit

It’s time to get scared — the kid-friendly kind at least.

With Halloween just around the corner, the ghosts, goblins, and monsters will descend on the historic Parker Alley on Saturday, October 29 for some spooky Halloween fun for the whole family.

Guests are invited to dress up in costume and trick-or-treat throughout the Alley and at select Woodward Avenue retailers that will pass out candy.

Parker’s Alley attendees can expect free face painting and balloon art, stilt walkers, live artwork and pumpkin décor – an ideal backdrop for a variety of photo opportunities, according to a press release.

The even is from 1- 5 p.m. Saturday, October 29 at Parker’s Alley, Grand River Avenue to John R. Street in Detroit.

Guests are welcome to stop by for treats at locations within the Alley and along Woodward Avenue, including Moosejaw, Detroit Water Ice, Nike, Bonobos, H&M, Woodhouse Day Spa, McMullen, Good Neighbor and Rebel Nell.

Parker’s Alley honors Thomas Parker, one of the first African-American landowners in the city’s history in 1809.

Parker’s small parcel was located at 1413 Farmer street, he owned the land from March 18, 1809 until April 9, 1816 according to a well-told story by Paul Sewick of the Metro Times. Parker acquired the land through a lot drawing stemming from the Great Detroit Fire of 1805.
