Olga Loizon Memorial Foundation Opens Grant Applications for Women Entrepreneurs in Michigan

The Olga Loizon Memorial Foundation has opened applications for its latest round of business grants, coinciding with International Women’s Day on Saturday, March 8. The Foundation, created to honor Olga’s Kitchen founder Olga Loizon, provides financial support to women entrepreneurs in Michigan.

The grant application period runs through March 29, and eligible women entrepreneurs are encouraged to apply at olgas.com/foundation. To qualify, applicants must reside in the U.S., be actively building a business in Michigan, demonstrate financial need, and submit a formal business plan.

The Foundation also announced Deanna Waun, managing director of MTB Consulting LLC, as its new president. Waun noted that more than 50 years ago, Olga Loizon faced significant challenges as a woman in business but persevered to create one of the state’s most iconic brands. She said the Foundation continues Loizon’s legacy by supporting women entrepreneurs as they navigate the complexities of business ownership.

Lisa Session, founder of the Detroit-based restaurant DA BOMB TACO and a past recipient of the Foundation’s grant, has also joined the board. She shared that receiving a grant helped her successfully build her restaurant and that, in her new role, she looks forward to supporting other women entrepreneurs as they work to grow their businesses and serve their communities.
