First-Ever Arts Education/Experience Scholarships
Scholarship applications are now being accepted, through August 15, by An Amazing Woman Foundation. Scholarships support young women in the Metro Detroit Area ages 10-18 who demonstrate a passion for art and a desire to seek additional education and experience in the arts. AAWF is committed to ensuring that the next generation of women are equipped with the courage, inner strength, confidence and positive attitude necessary to enrich their lives and transform their communities and the world in amazing ways.
Scholarship applications and application requirements are available atwww.AnAmazingWomanFoundation.org.
A selection committee comprised of respected experts will review and score each application and essay. Students with top scores will be awarded a scholarship. Winning applicants will be notified no later thanSeptember 1, 2015.
“We are committed to providing the necessary resources for young women to seek education and experience at local studios, arts camp and workshops,” said Sandy Garbovan, President of AAWF. The organization was started in late 2014 by Garbovan and a friend to honor her late daughter Jennifer. “As a mother, my worst nightmare became a reality. Jennifer did not live long enough to become the amazing woman I knew she would be, but though the Foundation, I hope to help many young girls become amazing women.”
One hundred percent of the proceeds from AAWF’s Opening Night: An Evening to Remember fundraiser on Saturday, June 6 at the James DeSana Center for Arts and Culture in Wyandotte will be used to fund scholarships. Tickets are $25.
