Detroit’s Noel Night has been more than just an event for half a century. It’s been the city’s ‘Letter to Santa’ for the past 50 years, and this Saturday, December 7, Midtown will transform into a dazzling winter wonderland, where glowing lights, soulful music, and the warmth of community come together to celebrate the holiday season.

With over 100 venues opening their doors for free performances, art exhibitions, and festive shopping, the 50th anniversary of this annual tradition promises a night filled with the joy and holiday magic of Detroit.

One of the evening’s shining stars is the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, where visitors can experience the holiday spirit blended with African American cultural heritage.

Hosted by The Wright’s Women’s Committee, the museum’s Noel Night programming is a favorite among families, featuring a joyful mix of activities and performances that reflect the community’s rich history and traditions.

When you step inside The Wright, you’ll be greeted by the warmth of live music, storytelling, and dance performances. From soulful carolers to dynamic drumming and ballet, the night promises to dazzle with a range of entertainment.

Black Santa and Mrs. Claus will be making special appearances throughout the evening, adding an extra sprinkle of holiday magic.

The Wright Museum will also feature hands-on art demonstrations, family-friendly crafts, and storytelling sessions that combine holiday traditions with African American heritage.

The Wright’s holiday marketplace is another highlight, showcasing one-of-a-kind gifts made by local artists. From handcrafted jewelry to unique artwork, visitors can find thoughtful presents for loved ones while supporting Detroit’s vibrant creative community.

Beyond The Wright Museum, Midtown Detroit will come alive during Noel Night. Stroll along the decorated streets, listen to holiday tunes, and enjoy hot cocoa along with other treats from local food vendors.

Nearby, the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Michigan Science Center will also host special programming, ensuring that every corner of Midtown is shining with holiday cheer.
