New Detroit Coloring Book Makes for Great Quarantine Craft

We are several weeks into quarantine now, and you may be in search of new ways to occupy time indoors. After all, there are only so many Netflix suggestions, books, and board games. The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy is here to help.

The Detroit Parks Coloring Book has been developed in partnership with the Belle Isle Conservancy, the Downtown Detroit Partnership (DDP), Eastern Market and the City of Detroit.

Many beloved public spaces throughout Detroit will be featured including:

  • Belle Isle Aquarium
  • Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory
  • Dequindre Cut along the riverfront
  • Shed 3 at Eastern Market
  • Campus Martius Park

“Detroit has amazing parks,” said Mark Wallace, president & CEO of the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy. “These parks bring us together to exercise, find peace by interacting with nature, and gather as a community.”

Each Tuesday from April 14 through May 26, two new images will be released and available to download, print and color at detroitriverfront.org/coloringdetroitparks.

The book was originally designed for kids, but all are encouraged to share their masterpieces by tagging the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy on social media using #ColoringDetroitParks. Coloring has been proven to reduce stress and anxiety according to beaumont.org.

The art in the Detroit Parks Coloring Book are original illustrations created by the team at 313 Creative, a Detroit-based strategic planning and design firm located in Eastern Market.

So, in a time where things may seem bleak and gray, why not add a little color?
