DETROIT (WWJ) – The time is over a decade into the future and you’re at war with zombies.
WWJ’s Sandra McNeill reports there were long lines at game stores around metro Detroit as Call of Duty: Black Ops: 2 hit store shelves at midnight.
At the Gamestop in Farmington Hills Assistant Manager Amber Frankfort said she’s been fielding calls about the game all week.
“I don’t think I’ve had a break – every single call I’ve had has been about Call of Duty. It’s been hectic, we take months and months of planning,” said Frankfort.
She said Call of Duty is by far the store’s best seller.
“You are in a war setting and you have to fight your way through the troops, it pretty cool,” Frankfort said. “It’s very high testosterone.”
“Last year sales were just amazing and just skyrocketed, we expect them to double at least what we did in this store,” she said.
Frankfort said the store already has 100 more pre-orders for Call of Duty then last year.
Sixteen-year-old gamer Andre Smith, is glad to have the game at midnight. “It’s pretty much addicting,” he said . “I played the last one about 2-3 hours a day.”
Marquis Pasley said he had to get his hands on the game at midnight. “Yeah, I had to come get it tonight, I’ve got to get my points up, before everybody else gets it. Get my rankings up before everyone else plays it.”
Gamestop in Farmington Hills expects to sell 600 to 700 games this week double the sales of the game last year.
The store manager said customers should expect a wait for the game again today.
