With over a million families in Michigan living below the poverty line, the need to ensure that they have access to energy is a top priority. That’s why DTE Energy partners with a number of local agencies around the state to help provide solutions.
During Customer Assistance Days, DTE helps families apply for energy assistance and provides access to various other human services agencies. Partners also provide energy efficiency and weatherization tips to help customers lower energy bills throughout the year.
The next Customer Assistance Day is on May 20, on the east side of Detroit. Customers must call 877-687-5499 by May 13 to register. Space is limited. Additional Detroit-area Assistance Days will be on June 17, July 15 and August 5.
If you’re behind on your energy bill, DTE asks that you contact them immediately, so they can work with you to set up a payment plan or help you find assistance in your area. If you often have trouble paying your bill, the Shutoff Protection Plan can help. It’s a plan to help you pay overdue balances while avoiding a shutoff.
DTE understands how important energy is to your daily lives. So they, along with community partners and organizations, are willing to do whatever they can to make sure you keep gas and electricity flowing. For more information on how to get help, please visit dteenergy.com/help.
