NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four to Return to Detroit

DETROIT — The NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Committee announced for cities to host the 2027-2030 Final Four games.

The NCAA Final Four returns to Detroit in 2027 after the hosting the sports event for the first time in 2009. The selected site for the 2027 event will once again take place at Ford Field.

“Detroit is increasingly being recognized as one of America’s great sports towns and one of the best places in the country to visit, said Detroit Mayor Mike Dugan. “Today’s decision by the NCAA to host its 2027 Final Four Tournament at Ford Field is further proof of that. It’s also great news for our city’s restaurants, shops and hotels.”

Ford Field was the first venue to utilize the in-the-round seating configuration for the Men’s Final Four and holds an attendance record for most fans at a regional semifinal at 57,528 and for a regional championship game at 57, 563 fans respectively. In 2009, Detroit also hosted the national championship game.

Site selections for the NCAA Final Four are very competitive, and Mayor Duggan thanked the Detroit Sports Commission, Detroit Sports Organizing Corp. and Visit Detroit for putting together another winning bid.

The other cities selected to host the tournaments are Las Vegas, Indianapolis, and Dallas.
