As a special call to business meeting held on Saturday, August 23, 2014 after nearly a year long pastor search, Mt. Charity Missionary Baptist Church of Detroit unanimously voted to welcome Reverend Frederick A.O. Belk as its new Pastor, an invitation Belk happily accepted.
You may have seen Belk recently on the News; his father Frederick J. Belk was murdered in the same city of Detroit in March of this year. Belk made a statement at the sentencing of the three defendants that was televised on Fox 2; where he forgave all three individuals for their actions of beating his father to death. Belk has stated that he has now devoted his energy to helping fight crime in the streets of Detroit. He and his wife Talisha will establish an Evangelistic Team that will go out into the streets of Detroit to spread the love of Christ to the neighborhood instead of the confusion that currently resides there.
“We are excited about the move of God, and how he has created an atmosphere that is accessible for change. We will dedicate our lives to making our city better and carrying out the mission of Jesus Christ; to seek and to save that which is lost. We will become an asset to the city of Detroit, and not a liability.”
Belk comes from a ten plus year tutelage under the great Reverend Curtis R. Grant Jr. who Pastors Zion Hope Missionary Baptist Church on Detroit’s eastside. He comes highly recommended from Grant, who has well prepared him for the task of leadership, and ministry. Belk’s wife, Talisha is also a Licensed and Ordained Minister that will be working by his side in this quest to save lives, and clean up the streets of Detroit. Their motto is “One Soul at a time”.
Mt. Charity will be installing Reverend Frederick A.O. Belk on November 2, 2014 at 4:00 pm. Even though he was voted to Pastor the church immediately following the vote, this service will be the official installation, where he will no longer be called Pastor Elect. Belk has been preaching and handling the duties of Pastor since August 23, 2014. If you would like to join Pastor Belk and Mt. Charity M.B.C.; services are held Sunday’s at 11a.m. and Bible Study on Wednesday at 6 p.m., for more information please contact the church directly at 313-898-6490.
