Meridian Winter Blast Returns

Who said the snow couldn’t be a joyous and fun time in the city? Starting February 7-9, Meridian Winter Blast will offer unique combination of hip and fun winter events that are centered on Campus Martius Park. Events and activities are divided in music stages, winter experience, a taste of Detroit, and comfort zone to stay warm. Many signature winter activities are returning with Buick sponsoring the 200 Foot Snow Slide, free ice-skating in Campus Martius Park, Professional skating demonstrations, unique sculptures in the Flagstar Bank Ice Garden, the Winter Blast Off presented by GM Foundation and more. Detroit’s music scene will be on display on three stages, with more than 50 entertainment acts performing.

Meridian Winter Blast was developed to create an innovative backdrop for Super Bowl XL. This signature wintertime festival debuted in January of 2005 to kick off the official countdown to Super Bowl XL in Detroit. This first time event attracted more than 200,000 people and featured a combination of hip and fun seasonal events that celebrated all things Detroit.
As an effort to give back, Winter Blast is teaming up with Matrix Human Services to donate to those in need this winter. The charge to enter Motown Winter Blast this year will be a donation to Matrix Human Services.. Entrants can donate the following to gain admission:

  • Three canned food items
  • One children’s book
  • or $2 that will be donated directly to Matrix Human Services to help those in need
