Molina Celebrates National Make a Difference Day in Detroit

Matrix Make a Difference Day 038Molina Healthcare of Michigan, in partnership with Matrix Human Services, recently celebrated National Make a Difference Day with a free community event attended by more than 400 Detroit residents.
As part of an effort to give back to those in need, Molina Healthcare donated $1,000 to cover the cost of haircuts for the first 100 attendees. Additionally, Molina raffled off fleece blankets to 50 attendees. Forgotten Harvest distributed food baskets to the 400 people in attendance, free massages were provided by Natural Touch Massage and Matrix staff offered free resume and career building information to adults seeking job training.
Dr. Cleo, Molina’s cat doctor mascot, also made a special appearance and shared fruit smoothies with attendees that were created using Molina’s blender bike. In addition, participants were given free health information about Medicaid and Marketplace health care coverage.
“National Make a Difference Day provides an opportunity for Molina to reach out to the community and make a positive impact,” said Stephen Harris, president of Molina Healthcare of Michigan. “We look forward to our continued partnerships with local organizations, like Matrix Human Services, which allows us to identify community members in need and provide solutions to their needs.
According to makeadiffrerenceday.com, Make a Difference Day is a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. Each year, millions of volunteers across the country unite on Make a Difference Day to improve the lives of others. This annual event marks the largest national day of community of service.
