The influencer marketing landscape is changing, but Black and Brown creators still face challenges securing high-level brand partnerships. MOD Branding, a full-service influencer marketing agency, aims to change this narrative—one deal at a time.
Founded by Detroit native and serial entrepreneur Micah Jenkins, MOD Branding was relaunched in November 2024 with a clear mission: to bridge the equity gap in influencer marketing and ensure that underrepresented creators receive their fair share of opportunities. The results are impressive. Within just 60 days of its revival, the agency secured over $100,000 in brand deals for Black and Brown influencers, demonstrating that strategic representation can make a significant impact.
“Black and Brown creators have the talent and influence but are often overlooked for high-level brand deals. MOD Branding is here to change that,” says Micah Jenkins, the founder of MOD Branding.
Jenkins’ journey into marketing and entrepreneurship began long before the establishment of MOD Branding. A Michigan State University graduate with a marketing and advertising background, she built her career working with leading brands like Target, Dove, and Sephora. Her passion for business led her to launch The Breakfast Loft, a thriving restaurant she opened at 24. Despite growing her restaurant empire, Jenkins remained committed to the power of strategic branding.
Originally founded in 2018, MOD Branding took a brief hiatus while Jenkins focused on other ventures. However, with a renewed vision and a dedication to equity in influencer marketing, the agency is now on a mission to secure fair pay and long-term brand collaborations for Black and Brown content creators.
While major influencers often dominate the spotlight, MOD Branding recognizes the power of micro-influencers—creators with smaller but highly engaged audiences. The agency is launching a new initiative to connect these micro-creators with major brands, ensuring their voices are heard.
“This industry isn’t just about the big names,” Jenkins explains. “Some of the most impactful voices are micro-creators, and they deserve the same opportunities as those with millions of followers.”
This new creator program will provide education, resources, and direct connections to brands looking for fresh, diverse talent, reinforcing MOD Branding’s mission to level the playing field in influencer marketing.
As the influencer economy grows, MOD Branding is establishing a space where Black and Brown creators are not just participants but power players. By leveraging deep industry expertise and a commitment to authentic representation, the agency is reshaping influencer marketing for underrepresented communities.
As the agency evolves, one thing is clear: MOD Branding is not just making waves but building a legacy of equity, opportunity, and impact in the digital marketing world.
