Mike Bloomberg Exits Presidential Campaign, Backs Joe Biden

In an official statement, Democratic candidate Mike Bloomberg has suspended his 2020 presidential campaign. The announcement comes after Tuesday’s primary presidential elections. The former mayor of New York spoke about his presidential run and revealed that he’s backing Democratic candidate and former Vice President Joe Biden.

“Three months ago, I entered the race for President to defeat Donald Trump. Today, I am leaving the race for the same reason: to defeat Donald Trump – because it is clear to me that staying in would make achieving that goal more difficult,” said Bloomberg. “I’ve always believed that defeating Donald Trump starts with uniting behind the candidate with the best shot to do it. After yesterday’s vote, it is clear that candidate is my friend and a great American, Joe Biden.”

Bloomberg spent over $500 million of his money to fund his campaign. He also opened up his campaign office in the Eastern Market District of Detroit and held a campaign rally in 2019.

Currently, Biden and Bernie Sanders are head-to-head in the Democratic primary.
