Coming off the heels of losing 35-14 in the Citrus Bowl to Alabama, Michigan faces yet another loss.
Donovan Peoples-Jones (DPJ) has announced his decision to forgo his senior year and enter this year’s NFL Draft; a move that is not going to sit well with Michigan fans who were hoping he would return. The former Cass Tech Technician arrived at Michigan as the No.1 wide receiver prospect in the country. During his time at Michigan, he had 103 receptions for 1,327 yards and 14 touchdowns. Also known as a punt returner, he amassed 743 yards and two touchdowns.
This is Michigan’s second wide receiver to leave the program in the past several weeks as Tarik Black entered the NCAA transfer portal on December 13th last year. Michigan could also be on the verge of losing receiver Nico Collins, who is also expected to declare for the draft.
Based on his sophomore season, many expected DPJ to have a breakout season. His 2018 season saw him catch 47 passes for 612 yards and eight touchdowns. This season, he regressed, with 34 receptions for 438 yards and six touchdowns. Many fans and media analysts attribute DPJ’s lack of productivity. this season due to Michigan quarterback Shea Patterson.

“After much prayer and discussion, I have decided to forgo my senior season and will enter the 2020 Draft!,” Peoples-Jones said. “This has always been a lifelong dream of mine and I am excited for the new opportunities in store for me. God Bless and Go Blue!”
It can be argued that it is too early to speculate where the Detroit native will be taken in the upcoming draft, but DPJ has a chance to increase his stock with the upcoming NFL combine.
