Michigan Chronicle Announces 2025 Standout Non-Profit Leaders in Southeast Michigan

For the second year in a row, the Michigan Chronicle is proud to honor 25 Standout Black Non-Profit Leaders in Southeast Michigan—exceptional individuals whose dedication, leadership, and service continue to uplift and transform communities across the region. These outstanding changemakers will be celebrated in a special publication, “Applause: A Salute to Standout Non-Profit Leaders in Southeast Michigan,” set for release on March 26, 2025.

Non-profits play a crucial role in addressing critical issues, from social services and education to economic empowerment and community development. The 2025 honorees exemplify the impact and innovation that define the non-profit sector in Michigan. Among this year’s distinguished recipients are Starr Allen-Pettway, President & CEO of Matrix Human Services; Kenneth Donaldson, President & CEO of the Black United Fund; Anika Goss, Chief Executive Officer of Detroit Future City; and Robin Terry, CEO and Board Chair of the Motown Museum, just to name a few.

These leaders represent a broad spectrum of organizations making a difference in areas such as youth development, housing assistance, healthcare, and economic mobility. For example, Adrian Lewis, CEO of Forgotten Harvest, continues to fight food insecurity across metro Detroit, while Cheryl P. Johnson, CEO of COTS, remains dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty for families. Ronald S. Taylor, President & CEO of the Detroit Area Agency on Aging, leads efforts to support seniors, and DeLashea Strawder, Executive & Artistic Director of Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit, is nurturing the next generation of artists and leaders. This premier publication will serve as a vital resource for organizations, supporters, and community leaders invested in the success of non-profits.

Businesses, community organizations, and supporters are encouraged to take part in this momentous celebration by placing congratulatory ads honoring the 2025 Standout Non-Profit Leaders, or to showcase their organizations. This is a unique opportunity to show support for these influential figures and promote a commitment to positive community impact. The deadline to place an ad is March 7, 2025.
