The southeast Michigan American Heart Association is positioned for a successful gala with the recent announcement of Bob Riney, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Henry Ford Health System, as the Metropolitan Detroit Heart Ball chair. The association also announced the launch of the Detroit Pulse Party. Contributions raised from the campaign are used to fund cardiovascular research and educational programs.
The Metropolitan Detroit Heart Ball, presented by Henry Ford Health System, is slated for Friday, June 5 at Eastern Market in Shed 3, located at 2934 Russell St. in Detroit. Tickets are $1,250 each and corporate sponsorships begin at $10,000.
“This year’s campaign is particularly distinctive,” said Shelley Rusinek, vice president of Development for the southeast Michigan American Heart Association. “As a result of Riney’s leadership, attendees will experience a summer chic event and renewed spirit of giving,” said Rusinek.
“Our goal is to offer an event that people thoroughly enjoy while raising money and giving back to our community,” said Riney. “Residents across southeast Michigan benefit tremendously from outstanding healthcare resources supported by research dollars from the American Heart Association,” he added.
In addition to some of the known Heart Ball staples, the Association along with their new young professionals group is launching the Pulse Party Detroit, an after-party designed to attract young professionals to the association.
“It’s important we expose our future leaders to organizations that impact the health of our nation,” said Riney. “The American Heart Association continues to cross the threshold–funding research advances and educational programs that make our communities a better place to live. To further our pursuit, I invite the corporate community to become sponsors of this lifesaving campaign.”
Bob Riney who was appointed executive vice president and chief operating officer of Henry Ford Health System in 2003, is passionate about serving the community and continues to drive value in healthcare. Along with overseeing hospital and service operations for the six-hospital health system, more than 60 clinical locations, 24,000 employees and annual revenues of $4.6 billion, Mr. Riney has held leadership positions with numerous local and national boards, including the National Center for Healthcare leadership; Leadership Detroit; ACCESS and the Detroit Zoological Society.
