Fund to assist Capt. Steil’s Widow and Two Young Sons
The Ken Steil Memorial Fund has been established through Talmer Bank. Anyone wishing to make a donation may do so by visiting any Talmer Bank location. All contributions will benefit the Steil family and support educational expenses for the Steils’ two young sons.
Steil, assigned to the Ninth Precinct, succumbed to his injuries after he was shot in the line of duty on September 12 attempting to arrest a suspect wanted for a previous shooting. Funeral services were held for Steil last week when he was promoted to the rank of captain posthumously by Police Chief James Craig. He served in the Police Department for 20 years.
