Mayor Duggan Extends Detroit’s Citywide Curfew

Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan issued a new executive order extending the city’s curfew.

Detroit residents traveling for work and for the purpose of buying goods and services will be exempt, and city buses will be running their normal routes. Other cities across the U.S. have started curfews.

The curfew was ordered by Mayor Duggan amidst the unrest and protest in the city and across the country in the wake of the death of George Floyd by former Minnesota police officer Derek Chauvin, 44, who knelt on Floyd’s neck for several minutes.

The curfew is in effect from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m
