Mayor, DPSCD leaders to update community on school building safety and health issues

14532478192149With the start of the new school year one week away, City and DPSCD leaders want to report to the community the work that has been done – and that which remains to be done – to make all public schools safe for students and teachers.
Today a 12:15 Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, DPSCD Transition Manager, Judge Steven Rhodes; DPSCD Interim Superintendent Alycia Meriweather; David Bell, Director of Detroit’s Building Safety, Engineering & Environmental Dept.; Jodi Wong, Interim CEO of the Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation along with parents and educators will address the issues of school conditions at Bates Academy, 19701 Wyoming at Pembroke.
A brief limited tour of the school will follow.
