May Is Mental Health and Small Business Month

Nationally celebrated in May, Mental Health and Small Business have a different focus in 2020 with the country facing the COVID-19 pandemic. Although not typically linked, the emergence of the coronavirus has connected the country’s mental health and small businesses in a rippled effect, with many people wondering how they will financially support their businesses, employees and families.

In a recent KFF poll, nearly half (45%) of adults in the United States reported that their mental health has been negatively impacted due to worry and stress over the virus while according to research by the National Federation of Independent Business, 92% of small business owners have been negatively impacted by the novel coronavirus outbreak.

To support our community during May, the Michigan Chronicle is doubling down on our support of small businesses with the Small Business COVID-19 tool kit, along with launching our “Mind Yourself” campaign focused on your mental health during this crisis. All month long we will feature articles, social media roundtables, and LIVE discussions along with tools to support small businesses and improve your mental health.
