Marshawn Lynch may have had the same answer ready for media types at the Super Bowl media day on Tuesday, but the Seattle Seahawks running back managed to give a different response to questions posed by “Entertainment Tonight”’s Kevin Frazier and Destiny Child vocalist Michelle Williams.
According to HipHollywood.com, the pair were on hand backstage after Lynch left 4 minutes and 51 seconds into the press conference. Unlike his “I’m here so I won’t get fined” answer to reporters, Lynch was in a different frame of mind upon talking to Williams.
“He was backstage with Deion Sanders and he was in a great mood,” Frazier told Hip Hollywood. “Michelle did the interview and he adores her.”
As for what they talked about, Frazier mentioned that Lynch focused mainly on promoting his Fam 1st Family Foundation. The foundation is dedicated to helping improve the lives of kids living in the Oakland area by mentoring them on the importance of education, literacy and self-esteem.
As the interview progressed, Lynch loosened up and broke out in song while opening up about his plans for an X-Box he got from Williams for being a good sport afterwards. The athlete mentioned that he would give the X-Box to one of the kids from his foundation.
Frazier later posted an Instagram photo of Williams chatting with Lynch, along with the following caption:
“So #MarshawnLynch didn’t want to talk to the media at Super Bowl Media but he wanted to talk to us!!! #etnow#superbowl.”
Lynch’s demeanor with Williams is a far cry from the stiff reception he’s given to the media after he was fined $50,000 earlier this year for avoiding the media after the Seahawks’ game against Kansas City.
In light of the fine and to avoid paying more money, Lynch has taken to chatting with reporters. The kicker is he just gives the same answer in interviews, no matter the question. The NFL eventually took notice of Lynch’s media issues and threatened to fine him $500,000 if he didn’t appear at media day this year.
