Marathon’s Detroit Refinery, Local Agency Host Financial Empowerment Day

Marathon Petroleum Corporation’s Detroit refinery is sponsoring Wayne Metro Community Action Agency’s Financial Empowerment Day in southwest Detroit this weekend from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 12 at the Kemeny Recreation Center, 2260 S. Fort St. in Detroit.

The event will provide free tax preparation, community resources and financial guidance, food distribution from Forgotten Harvest, and giveaways for more than 200 community members.

Representatives from PNC Bank and Chase Bank will be available to help Detroit residents reach their financial goals. Attendees will learn about a new savings program that provides matching funds equal to the amount a participant saves in the first year. In addition, representatives will be available to help with credit repair counseling and utility payment assistance programs. Registration for the event is highly recommended, as spots will fill up quickly.

Registration is open now and can be completed here.
