In March 2021, an Ohio company made its mark in Michigan with an official restaurant expansion into the Motor City. Now, Saucy Brew Works has made a home in downtown Detroit and is looking to become more ingrained in the city’s fabric. With Detroit’s rich legacy of sports, the brewery has launched an incentive geared towards baseball enthusiasts.

Saucy Brew Works is offering a way for Detroiters to cash in on game day Tigers tickets, win or lose. The brewery is offering fans one free small one-topping pizza to all who attend Tigers baseball games throughout the season. Fans must show their home game ticket the day of the game to get the free pizza.

Founded in 2017, the Cleveland-based brewery is known for their wide range of high-quality craft beers including the classic German, American, Experimental Yeast and Wild Type beers. With five locations, including retail, throughout Ohio, a brewpub location landed right in the heart of downtown Detroit. Hoping to win the hearts of Detroiters, Saucy Brew Works’ presence in the city is part of the brewery’s overall development and expansion plans.

“Being that we are sponsors for sports in Cleveland, we wanted to become a little bit more ingrained into sports in Detroit as well. We wanted to generate traffic and integrate ourselves more in the community, and sports in general with the Tigers season,” says Shelby Nicholson, marketing manager for Saucy Brew Works.

In addition to the classic restaurant-style setting, the downtown Detroit location also features their third Coffeehouse. The full-service café offers signature coffee drinks and house roasts, seasonal offerings and bakery items. This is the first promotion the eatery has run since landing in the city.

“As the Craft Beer Partner of the Cleveland Cavaliers, we wanted to bring our love for sports and sports enthusiasts to our new location in Detroit,” says Nicholson, “This is the first of many offers we plan to promote related to Detroit’s home teams and we hope our new neighbors will seek out Saucy Brew Works as their new pre- and post-game destination.”

Located just steps from Comerica Park, the brewpub has become a popular stop before or after games. The 5,700 square-foot space features both indoor and outdoor seating and classic salads and sandwiches.

Together with Bedrock, Saucy Brew Works explored two properties before settling on the historic Brush Park neighborhood.

“We partnered with Bedrock and we’ve noticed we’re expanding quite rapidly. This is our fourth location that we have opened. Detroit is our first one out of state. Given that we could partner with Bedrock, who we completely trusted to lead the project, it was a really seamless transition to open there,” says Nicholson.

Continuing to grow the city, Bedrock is ushering in companies and inspiring them to see the beauty and potential in Detroit.

“Witnessing the vision for City Modern come to life in the historic Brush Park neighborhood is exciting. Featuring a menu that offers something for everyone, Saucy Brew Works is the ideal food and beverage operator to serve the existing and rapidly growing residential population,” said Ivy Greaner, chief operating officer for Bedrock. “Saucy Brew Works is committed to the communities they serve and we are so pleased to welcome them to the neighborhood.”

As Detroit sports heat up, the brewery plans to develop offers centered around each team which will include exclusive merchandise.

“Once the Pistons season starts or gets closer, we’ll come up with something there and the same goes for the Red Wings,” says Nicholson.

Saucy Brew Works and the Detroit Tigers are not affiliated. The promotion is not a result of partnership or sponsorship between the two. The offer will extend through the end of the season and is good for home games only. Pizza must be redeemed the day of the game. The offer will be good for one person per ticket and dine-in only. The final home game is slated for September 26.

“We really just want everyone to know we’re here. We have great beer, great food, we’re award-winning in Cleveland and hope to be in Detroit one day,” says Nicholson.

The next home game is scheduled for Thursday, July 29. For more details on the game visit https://www.mlb.com/tigers.
