LiveWorkDetroit! offers one-day immersion in Detroit for college students, recent grads
Lansing, Mich. — The Michigan Economic Development Corporation invites college students and recent graduates from around Michigan and beyond to LiveWorkDetroit!, a career event taking place Saturday, October 19 from 1:30-8:00 p.m. at Ford Field.
“Detroit is buzzing with new energy that is creating a dynamic, vibrant place to showcase to young adults with entrepreneurial spirit,” said Mike Finney, President and CEO of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. “Detroit is making global headlines for its amazing transformation by attracting new businesses, visitors and young professionals, and we encourage college students to take a close look at all the city has to offer.”
LiveWorkDetroit! is an MEDC initiative designed to connect Michigan’s college graduates to Detroit job opportunities and promote the city of Detroit as a preferred post-graduation talent destination. Since 2011, more than 2,500 college students from universities and colleges across Michigan and surrounding states have participated in 12 LiveWorkDetroit! events.
The October 19 event is being co-hosted by D:hive and MEDC. Participating students will have the opportunity to network with a wide range of Detroit employers, seasoned professionals and peers already working in sectors of Detroit’s emerging economy. The event will include a keynote address by Moosejaw President and CEO Eoin Comerford, panel discussion with some of Detroit’s young leaders, and a tour of Ford Field. Participants will also learn about Detroit’s high-tech startups, medical researchers, fashion trendsetters, restaurants, museums, and affordable places to live.
