As Life Remodeled celebrates 15 years of creating lasting change in Detroit neighborhoods, the nonprofit is preparing for its most ambitious chapter yet. Founder Chris Lambert has announced he will step down as CEO, making way for current President and COO Diallo Smith to lead the organization into a bold future of deeper community impact, innovative partnerships, and expanded opportunities for Detroiters.

Lambert started Life Remodeled in 2010. Although he is stepping back from day-to-day operations, he will continue to support the organization as a board member and advocate for its important mission of improving and revitalizing neighborhoods in a sustainable way.

“When I launched Life Remodeled, my vision was to partner with communities and organizations to create revitalization that lasts,” Lambert said.

“This leadership transition represents an exciting and intentional shift — one that reflects the communities we serve and honors the strong foundation we’ve built. I look forward to remaining Life Remodeled’s biggest champion and to pursuing new opportunities that will expand impact across the nonprofit sector globally.”

As Life Remodeled celebrates 15 years of transforming neighborhoods in Detroit, the organization is entering an exciting new chapter, led by a true Detroiter. Diallo Smith, a lifelong resident of the city and an experienced nonprofit leader, is stepping into the role of CEO. He brings strong community connections and a proven track record to guide the organization into its next era of impact.

Life Remodeled will officially commemorate the historic milestone on April 26 with its flagship fundraiser, Prom Remodeled, which will also serve as the platform for the ceremonious transition of its new CEO. The event will take place at Durfee Innovation Society, which houses Life Remodeled’s thriving Opportunity Hub.

This celebration will not only mark 15 years of transformational impact but will also highlight the organization’s exciting new chapter under incoming CEO Diallo Smith. This momentous occasion will embody the spirit of community, innovation, and the lasting revitalization of neighborhoods that have defined Life Remodeled’s mission from its inception.

“I’m honored to step into the CEO role and build upon the transformative work Life Remodeled has already accomplished,” Smith said.

“With our talented team, dedicated partners, and unwavering commitment to Detroit’s neighborhoods, I’m confident we will continue driving positive change and improving quality of life across this incredible city.”
