Kim Fields explains why she joined ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’

You could almost hear the collective jaws drop to the ground when urban American learned that veteran actress Kim Fields was joining the “ratchet” and rambunctious reality show, “Real Housewives of Atlanta.” The two seemed to go together about as well as peanut butter and oatmeal.
Fields, 46, who most remember as the skates-riding student Tootie Ramsey from “The Facts of Life” in the 1980s and the as the prissy roommate Régine Hunter from “Living Single” in the 90s, stopped by the “Wendy Williams Show” to explain why took to the head-first plunge into reality madness.
Fields even thanked Williams for warning her against joining such a show.
“I know you’re supposed to start, but can I? I have to say thank you to you. You were so protective and you were so, girl don’t do this. How I received it was from the place of just protection, almost like big sis, you know what I mean? I don’t care what anybody else said, because it was for me and that’s how I received it,” Fields said.
Fields revealed that she had fielded a bevy of reality TV show offers in the past but she said she could not resist the vast platform that Bravo TV’s No. 1 reality show could offer.
“My family and I have been asked to do reality TV for years and have our own show and all sorts of things. Either the platform wasn’t right or timing wasn’t right and when this opportunity came up, it became, go big or go home,” she explained.
“It was almost like a social adventure for me to be able to say oh, let me try this,” Fields said.
Fields had even more to say about RHOA. Take a look:
