Kentavious Caldwell-Pope Avoids Major Knee Injury

Pistons second-year guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope’s MRI on his left knee showed no structural damage and has been re-diagnosed as a left knee strain after originally being thought to be a knee sprain. The Pistons are counting on the second-year guard to provide some stability at the shooting guard position where the Pistons haven’t much consistency since the days of Richard “Rip” Hamilton. Caldwell-Pope was averaging 16 points per game this preseason after averaging 6 point per game his rookie season. As a precaution I would expect Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy to keep him out of the lineup for the rest of the preseason as the Pistons open the season on the road at the Denver Nuggets on October 29th.
Caldwell-Pope joins fellow Pistons guards Will Bynum and newcomer Jodie Meeks as guards with injuries as Will Bynum is out with a hamstring injury and Meeks is out dealing with back spasms.
