Judge Deborah Thomas to facilitate expungement Fair for Veterans

Judge deborah thomasBeing convicted of a felony can erect a lifetime of barriers. Convicted felons have difficulty finding housing, jobs and gaining access to federal assistance programs. Some states even strip convicted felons of their right to vote.

In Michigan, convicted felons can use expungement laws and federal pardons to give themselves a fresh start and wipe the record clean.  Unfortunately, most people don’t have any idea how to determine if they qualify or how to fill out the forms.

If you are a veteran having difficulty getting your life back on the right track due to a criminal record, be sure to attend The Write Idea’s Expungement Fair Saturday, February 27, 2016 from 9:00 am-1:00 p.m. at the Legal Aid and Defenders Office located at 613 Abbott Street in Detroit. Judge Deborah Thomas will facilitate, and Metro-Detroit lawyers will be on hand to help you navigate Michigan’s complicated expungement law.

Veterans who are interested in attending this event must RSVP by calling The Write Idea at (313) 967-5881.
