Funeral services are set for longtime labor and civil rights leader Joseph Davis on Feb. 4 at Fellowship Chapel, 7707 W. Outer Drive, at 11 a.m. with a family hour starting at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Wendell Anthony officiating.
Public visitation is on Feb. 3 from 3 to 9 p.m. at Swanson Funeral Home Northeast Chapel, 14751 W. McNichols. Swanson is handling all arrangements.
Joe Davis, a native of Detroit, was a life member and trustee of the NAACP, a national board member of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) and a national board member and trustee of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists.
Joseph Davis was a graduate of Northwestern High School and served in the U.S. Army. He attended Wayne State University before joining Chrysler and becoming active with the United Auto Workers. He recently retired as director of the National UAW Civil Rights Department.
