On the cover, she shows offer her new hourglass shape in a beautiful black form-fitted dress. She’s also wearing a short blonde wig styled by Ursula Stephens, who is also the stylist for Rihanna.

“I’m a wood-burning stove; it’s a slow brew,” she says referring to how long it has taken her to drop some serious pounds.

She also talks briefly about the new man in her life. “My only job is to be happy. So for everybody that cares about me and is not trying to be all up in a celebrity’s business, just know that I’m happy. My son is happy. We enjoy our lives,” she said.

Scott can be seen in her latest film, Get On Up, about the life and music career of the late James Brown. She plays Brown’s second wife Deidre “Deedee” Jenkins, who was known to be physically abused by him.

She comments, “We had to approach it very gingerly. The family is definitely involved in this film, and we didn’t want this to be the highlight of his existence… There’s so much more to this man, and when we approached this particular scene where there was some spousal abuse we were very careful about it because we don’t want to taint this man’s image or his legacy.”
