Jazz & Blues Series at the Southfield Public Library

Straight Ahead is the featured performer at the Southfield Public Library’s next Jazz & Blues performance on Wednesday, October 15 at 6:30 p.m. in the Meeting Room. General admission is $5.00 or $3.00 admission for Friends of the Southfield Public Library members. There is no charge for children under 12.
The ground breaking jazz group Straight Ahead is a group of strong, inventive instrumentalists and vocalists, who have shown themselves to be powerful and imaginative composers and arrangers. Widely recognized for their eclectic and soulful approach to creating music, and their live performances are dynamic celebration of power and joy with a wide range of musical textures, moods and tempos.
Straight Ahead has opened for the legendary Nina Simone at the Montreux Jazz Festival, Switzerland. The ensemble has shared the concert stage with a who’s who of the music world including: Kem, Jean Luc Ponty, Nancy Wilson, Roy Ayers, Tony Bennett, George Duke, Stanley Clark, Max Roach, the Yellowjackets and Dianne Reeves.
Jazz & Blues is sponsored by the Friends of the Southfield Public Library and the Detroit Blues Society.
