Janice Cosby Bridges named to American Heart Association Midwest Board of Directors

janice photoJanice Cosby Bridges, vice president, Ascension, chief communications marketing officer, has been appointed to the board of directors of the American Heart Association, Midwest Affiliate for a two-year term. In this role, Cosby will help lead the achievement of the association’s mission to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke through oversight of local revenue generation and health impact activities.
Cosby Bridges served as co-chair and chair of the Detroit Go Red For Women Luncheon for three years, which generated more than $1 million for the American Heart Association.  She was recently named co-chair of the 2016 Go Red campaign.  In 2014, St. John Providence Health System, part of Ascension Michigan, and the Association, launched a series of initiatives aimed at educating women about heart disease.  Cosby Bridges sits on numerous boards including: Black Family Development, Inc., Inforum, Teen Hype and a member of the Detroit Links among others.
“Despite a busy professional and personal life, Cosby Bridges can always be counted on to make time for the American Heart Association.  Her passion for our mission is contagious,” said Catherine Smith, executive director of the southeast Michigan American Heart Association. “She is active and truly cares about improving the cardiovascular health of everyone.  Her dedication certainly helps save lives,” Smith added.
As a member of the Midwest Affiliate Board of Directors, Cosby Bridges will help oversee the American Heart Association’s efforts in an 11-state region, comprised of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
