Dr. Conrad Murray, the late Michael Jackson’s personal physician, was charged earlier Monday with involuntary manslaughter in connection to the King of Pop’s death, according to CNN.com.
Murray was arraigned in court shortly after turning himself in at a branch courthouse near the Los Angeles Airport. He is accused of administering a lethal dosage of the anesthetic propofol along with other drugs without having the proper external safeguards in place, including a respirator or defibrillator.
Based on the criminal compliant filed in court, it states that Murray “did unlawfully, and without malice, kill Michael Joseph Jackson.”
In a hearing before Judge Keith L. Schwartz, Murray pleaded not guilty to the charges. If convicted, he could face up to a maximum of four years.
Murray was hired by Jackson to be his personal physician during his comeback concert tour, “This Is It,” which was scheduled to launch in London, England.
