Infiniti showcased its new 2011 Infiniti M at an exclusive media event at the Beverly Hills SLS Hotel as part of the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show.
The Infiniti M, now in the fifth year of its second-generation design, features a more sportier design with the automaker’s signature grille and crystal-look headlight clusters and other styling cues reminiscent of its smaller sibling – the Infiniti G sedan, but on a much bolder level.
The 2011 model is definitely recognizable as the “M” but with a much more aggressive stance than the previous design.
The new sedan is offered in M37, which features a 3.7-liter V6 with increased horsepower and fuel economy than the previous model and a more powerful 5.6-liter V-8 model — the M56. Both models are available in rear-wheel drive or with Infiniti’s advanced Intelligent all-wheel drive system.
The 2011 M is also available with a special sport package with an advanced rear active steer system, sport-tuned suspension 20-inch wheels and tires and a few other unique styling elements.
“The 2011 Infiniti M embodies all of our best thinking, design and quality to date,” said Ben Poore, vice president, Infiniti Business Unit. “It builds on the strengths of the previous generation, delivering a performance luxury experience crafted to a higher standard.”
Technology features in the new M include Infiniti’s next generation hard drive navigation system, Bose Studio Surround system, intelligent cruise control, lane departure warning and distant control assist to name a few.
Created as what Infiniti describes as the “second skin,” the new M’s interior builds on what has become a benchmark for luxury with a more tailored crafted cockpit. The goal? An interior more in tune with the driver when settling in behind the wheel with features like hand-crafted wood accents and custom leather appointments.
Other interior highlights include what Infiniti describes as its “Fine Vision” electroluminescent gauges, an “entry/exit” assist system for the driver’s seat and steering wheel and sequential “welcome” lighting illuminated entry system.
You gotta love the attention Infiniti pays to the details, and for 2011 it only gets better.
