Lace up your sneakers and get ready for a fun-filled weekend in the city as Curtis Jones Park plays host the annual HOOPFEST 2023 — a three-day celebration of basketball, healthy living, and community.
The event, a partnership between NW Goldberg Cares, the Detroit Pistons, Detroit City Council President Mary Sheffield, and others, will take place from July 21-23, and its final day promises to be the most exciting yet. On Sunday, July 23, everyone is welcome to join the festivities from 12:30-8 p.m. in partnership with “Occupy the Corner.”
This year’s HOOPFEST honors the life and legacy of the renowned Curtis Jones through basketball and community engagement. The event will feature a celebrity game in collaboration with Sheffield and Detroit rapper Skilla Baby, as well as an adult 3-on-3 fundraising tournament.
HOOPFEST will also offer a community BBQ, face painting, caricature artists, a bounce house, and many other fun and family-friendly activities.
The adult 3-on-3 tournament is open to 20 teams, with a registration fee of $60 per team. You can either register your team in advance or sign up on-site. However, the event itself is entirely free, and registration is required. The first ten pre-registered teams have guaranteed spots.
HOOPFEST 2023 is a great occasion for people of all ages to come together and celebrate community, sportsmanship, and healthy living.
