Micah Aaron, PhD, MPH is an Assistant Professor on the tenure track in the School of Public Health at the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor. As a Harvard-trained public health professional, she recognizes that the access and quality of care issues that plague the U.S. healthcare system result from a combination of interrelated actions of various institutions, organizations and regulatory bodies (both governmental and nongovernmental) in addition to patient lifestyle choices. Her research aims to elucidate how to best leverage provider consolidation within our healthcare markets and physician and hospital payment to achieve high-value cancer care for all U.S. patients. Her multi-disciplinary research has been funded by grants (totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars) from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and the National Cancer Institute, and published in health services research journals, including Health Services Research and JAMA. Further, she has had meaningful experience engaging policy makers to translate her research into actionable, and outcome-driven legislation. When she is not actively engaged in research or policy-related activities, she enjoys teaching the theoretical principles of healthcare quality improvement and mentoring future public health leaders at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
