A dozen acts are set to perform at Highland Park Renaissance Academy High School for the Alumni Association Talent Show Fundraiser on Friday, May 9, 2014 from 6-9pm located at 15900 Woodward Avenue, Highland Park, MI.
Among the acts scheduled to perform are Grammy nominated Rap Legend YoYo & Mayor DeAndre Windom, Comedian Coco, Composer of CutTime and musician of The Detroit Symphony Orchestra Rick Robinson, Las Vegas Singer Terry Forsythe, TV Host and Poet Brenda Perryman, Director/Vocalist Loren Dean Harper, Jazz Violinist Darryl Looney, Drummer /Straight Ahead musician Gaylynn McKinney, DTE Executive/performer Karla Hall, George Duke musician Byron Miller, Highland Park Alumni Choir and BMA Hip-Hop Artist of the Year Supa Emcee to name a few.
“The Highland Park Talent Show is being held to raise funds and to engage Highland Park alumni in a long-term initiative to help ensure the success of the children in Highland Park “from cradle to college”, stated Alumna and organizer Karla Hall. Mayor DeAndre Windom added “I am grateful for the alumni, residents, friends and sponsors who are working together to support our youth through this event. The Talent Show is a great example of the many wonderful things that are happening in Highland Park. As an alum myself, I look forward to performing with my wife, Rap artist YoYo, and bringing this special event to the community.” Rick Robinson who composed “Highland Park, MI: City of Trees stated “This track is about the wonderful students of Highland Park getting cut down, much like those tall Elm trees that once were a staple in HP”. He continued those trees, students and community will reach for the stars again with the strong support of HP Alumni and broad education”.

Proceeds from this event will support existing summer and after-school youth development programs as well encourage Alumni from High Park to return home to reshape and help the city stated Malesa Owens McGhee Alumna PR/Media Consultant Eye 2 Eye Productions.
