DETROIT — CNS Healthcare will use its resources to help lighten the load normally associated with the holidays beginning with a turkey giveaway. CNS Healthcare will hold multiple events on Saturday, November 20th at 10am at three metro-Detroit locations, each with a community leader to help with distribution. The health agency will distribute 2,5000 turkeys on a first-come, first serve basis.
· CNS Healthcare Detroit – East, 2900 Conner Avenue, Detroit, MI
· CNS Healthcare Detroit – West, 15560 Joy Road, Detroit, MI
· Pontiac City Hall, 47450 Woodward Avenue, Pontiac
CNS Healthcare will work in partnership with Oakland County Sheriff Office, Wayne County Sheriff Office and the 5th Precinct of the Detroit Police Department who will be on-site to assist with and participate at these events.
“The holidays can be trying for many, both emotionally and economically,” said Michael Garrett, President/CEO of CNS Healthcare. “This turkey giveaway will kick-off our Season of Caring where we make sure the community knows there are resources here for their comfort and support.”
The health agency will be offering more than turkeys during this holiday but several wrap-around services and information that will serve as a benefit to the community. Some mental health services will include therapy, sociologist, school-based services, substance-use disorder, and more.
Garrett says it takes more companies and organizations being involved in engaging the community it serves.
“We’re an organization that believes that companies have a responsibility. You can’t just throw up a sign and just do business in the community, you need to contribute to the individual needs of that area and how you can make it better.”
Loneliness and depression are problems often can be amplified for some people during the holidays. Garrett hopes this holiday season of giving and its weekend turkey giveaway begins a deeper conversation about communities and important focus on mental particularly in the Black community.
