Hateful eight movie review

Hateful-05Quentin Tarantino’s western film Hateful Eight is set in the post-civil war era. Four travelers and a prisoner are heading towards the town of Red Rock. Due to bad weather conditions the group finds shelter at a haberdashery. Upon arrival the group is greeted by four strangers. Although they find shelter from the blizzard the travelers find troubles on the inside.

I must say the run time of the film made me a bit apprehensive about going to see it however I did not check my watch one time. With most of the film taking place in one location, Tarantino did a good job of holding the audiences’ attention. Tom Roth (Oswaldo Mobray) and Michael Madsen (Joe Gage) have appeared in many Tarantino’s films as well as Samuel Jackson (Major Marquis Warren) making his second appearance in a Tarantino film, the three of them had great performances. Demián Bichir, Walton Goggins, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Kurt Russell also had impressive performances. Like Tarantino’s previous film DJango, it is set in a time where it depicts race and is very graphic in the way it displays violence.

I rate the action/adventure/suspense thriller film 4 out of 5 stars. Run time is 3 hours and 7 min, and it is rated R.
