Group wants Obama to rescind Cosby’s Presidential Medal of Freedom [video]

*The pressure is on for President Obama to take back Bill Cosby’s Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Sexual assault prevention group PAVE (Promoting Awareness Victim Empowerment) – using the White House’s “We the People” website – has gathered more than 4,400 signatures in an effort to rescind the medal that was awarded to Cosby in 2002, by then President George W. Bush.
“Bill Cosby’s name does not belong among this distinguished list,” the group said. “We cannot yet give his accusers their day in court, but we can fight back in the court of public opinion.”
 

The Presidential Medal of Freedom recognizes individuals who have made “an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.  It’s the nation’s highest civilian award.
Cosby was given his before allegations emerged that he sexually assaulted more than two dozen women. It’s not clear if the administration can take back a Presidential Medal of Freedom, Obama’s spokesman said Wednesday.
“I don’t know whether or not it’s legally possible to do so,” White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said.
Earnest did not address questions about whether President Obama and his staff wanted to revoke Cosby’s medal and whether they were investigating the possibility.
