Scope of Responsibilities: To act as a face-to-face and online representative of Grace College Detroit to prospective and currently enrolled students for School of Adult and Community Education in Detroit, Michigan. Through relationship building, an Admissions Counselor’s goal is to guide prospective students from through inquiry to admission and will cultivate relationships with organizations to identify potential students for the adult programs. Additionally, the Admissions Counselor will assist in providing student services to Weber and GOAL students as they transition to an enrollment status.
 
General Responsibilities: Duties: Interact and answer direct questions to prospective students interested in adult educational degrees. Complete daily contact flow for adult programs in EX. Speak to individuals and groups in prepared and impromptu presentations, answering questions and providing literature. Work with all individuals at Grace College Detroit to facilitate productive visits for potential students. Work with Weber associate degree students and GOAL students interested in the degree completion program answering questions and assisting with the application process, and providing input through the admissions decisions. Respond to prospective student emails and phone calls and other mediums in less than 24 hours. Assist with processing student application decisions including transcript evaluations. Provide assistance to data entry by providing needed information, maintaining thorough notes in EX, and collecting application parts. Cooperate with marketing to provide information necessary to create collateral and publicize new and existing programs. Operates school and rental vehicles with valid driver’s license and have an excellent driving record. Assist with student orientation programs. Provide some assistance as needed to student services such as the Business Office, Registrar, Financial Aid and faculty members. Work on building relationships with local human resource directors, community colleges and other key constituents to expand and promote Grace College’s adult programs. Serve as a member of the School of Adult and Community Education Admissions team to develop and implement effective admissions strategies. Attend college fairs and visit local businesses to promote the Weber and GOAL programs in Detroit. Performs other duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Project Management, Communication, or related field. Proficient experience with the Microsoft Office Suite. A highly self-motivated individual with outgoing personality, excellent social skills and likeable personality. Have a team-player mentality. Must be punctual and good at following oral directions. Must have superior oral and written communication skills and a natural style of relating that puts others at ease quickly. Must be comfortable talking to individuals and groups, many times impromptu; therefore, should be good at “thinking on one’s feet.” Must be a good listener, able to sift through questions and address issues in a relevant way. Available for evening and weekend work (usually from home). Must have a notable Christian faith and commitment.
 
Preferred Qualifications: One year of experience in related field, marketing or communications. Experience with adult education.
 
Status: Full Time, Exempt
